MIAL offers unique events and courses. Our Intro to Shipping and Advanced Shipping courses are our most popular, and we are regularly asked for the next planned course dates. We’ve released our 2023 proposed course schedule below and will make tickets available soon.

We are very happy to facilitate bespoke courses for member and non member organisations. We’ve done this many times with fantastic results for the attendees to gain some introductory knowledge about the Australia maritime shipping industry. Intro to Shipping

This comprehensive course covers the essential elements of vessels, cargo and shipping. The course will conducted online due to COVID-19 restrictions. Attendees will receive a workbook and certificate.

Course Methodology

The course will engage the students with lively presentations and real-life examples.

Target Participants

The course will benefit:

  • new entrants to the maritime sector as well as non-specialists who are currently working in the industry
  • government personnel, advisors, policy makers from state, federal and local government
  • administration staff who work in law firms, auditing companies, class societies, banks and financial companies, shipbrokers, insurance companies, transportation companies and ports, who seek general knowledge about the maritime sector

Advanced Shipping

The Advanced Shipping One Day Intensive is aimed at: vessel crewing personnel, maritime lawyers, maritime regulatory organisations, port operators, port service providers and ship brokers.  

Key speakers are sought from the region to cover topics in depth.
