Proposed Amendment for Construction Workers Who Work on Ships

MIAL is keen to better understand the specific cohort of workers that this amendment is intended to capture. We do note, for example, that it is not intended to capture ‘the maritime or shipping’ industries. We therefore assume this is intended only to capture what would be considered specialist or industrial personnel who predominately work on construction on land or offshore and are temporarily required to perform construction work on board ships. Employers of these workers would presumably generally be construction specialist firms rather than ship owners or crewing companies.
